Cara Delevinge is one of the most genuine, down to earth, and seemingly real people in Hollywood. Cara, quite frankly, takes no shit and in her recent interview with Vogue UK she was up front and honest about her relationship and embracing real love. The interview makes you swoon for Cara and girlfriend St. Vincent but the most important part is when Cara was once again honest about her sexuality and mentioned again how it wasn’t always as easy for her as it is now.
I’m obviously in love, so if people want to say I’m gay, that’s great. But we’re all liquid – we change, we grow.
When Cara was a child she was confused and admittedly, scared, about her sexuality and as she grew up she wasn’t sure what to label herself or where to put her feelings of attraction to both women and men. At age 20, Cara fell in love with a woman and had no choice but to accept it.
After accepting who she was, and finding St. Vincent, who brings out a happiness and confidence in her she’s not experienced before, Cara admits that she has embraced real love.
I’m completely in love…Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love. I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or the world or your partner.
Cara seems to have all the support in the world, and an attitude that makes it easy to brush off anyone who dares to condescend how she chooses to live.
However, during an interview with Vogue in 2015, her sexuality was reduced to a “phase” and fans of Cara were upset. It’s just not fair for your sexuality to be called a phase because it’s not what people expected of you, not the image people had in their heads of you. There was an online petition started for the magazine to apologize and retract the statement, but it didn’t happen – so Cara took matters into her own hands.
in 2015 she said simply:
My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am
A lot has changed for Cara since she found St. Vincent and it’s all been for the better, she’s living proof that accepting and truly becoming yourself opens all sorts of opportunities for you to live in love and in happiness.
